The 4th Quarter & Overall 2011 Performance Awards ceremony was held on Friday 30th December 2011 with many branches and staff coming up as winners.

Akans have a proverb which says “Hard work does not break bones”. It is also said that “There is dignity in labour”. Star Assurance recognizes and rewards individuals and groups who put up outstanding performances every quarter and the 4th quarter of 2011 was not left out.

Peace Addo Frimpong of the Credit Control Unit gave our difficult customers a tough time as she would not take “there is no money in the system” as an excuse”. Peace did not only win Ghc400 for herself but did so by collecting lots of cash for the Company.

Surprises sprang up from the “Tico City” or if you would permit me the “Atadwe Kingdom”. One would have thought that since most Ticos have 3rd Party Covers and Atadwe Businesses do not usually patronize insurance, the branch cannot do so well.

The Nkawkaw Team worked very hard to clinch the Best Performing Workgroup and had a whopping Ghc1,500 for that. More grease to your elbow.

This was followed by the Broker Relations Workgroup, headed by my Finest Foot Soldier Comrade, Honourable Joseph Dorh, future MP for Prampram (after E. T. Mensah decides to retire). Nana Serwah’s wedding plans did not affect her flow at all. The team won a cash prize of Ghc600. Kudos.

The 2nd Runner Up was the Sunyani Branch with Ghc400.  Sule will surely let them receive their bucks safely.

Special Awards of Ghc250 each were collected by Kofi Odei Frimpong of Audit, Emma Ofori-Atta of Takoradi and William O. Amoafo of Kumasi.

One lady that keeps surprising most of us is Dorcas Doe Hiamey. Dorcas is so unassuming but much endowed with many capabilities. No wonder Dorcas grabbed the Azonto Championship for the Women’s wing.

I am not sure what course Razak read at the university but I think if he did not do Dance & Theatre for a first degree, it is not too late
for him to consider pursuing it as a second degree course. My only worry is he seems to be taking the title William would have won hands-down about a year ago. William is not worried because he knows in his heart that National Service Personnel are a Nine Day Wonder. They do not last in the system and that he William, will shine again. But for now, Dorcas and Razak collected Ghc30 each for twisting their bodies to match Sarkodie’s music and Agggyyyeeeiiii.

The party went on till mothers started calling Managements of Star and Erata to close for the night.

Folks, for your information, all those who won double, i.e. in the 4th quarter and also for the overall 2011, choose one and give the other to charity. It is said, “it is more blessed to give than to receive”.

Sad to say, that was the last night for Papa Ghansah at Star Assurance. Our man has paid his due and deserves to catch some rest. I am sure people have mixed feelings. Whilst some of us are sad for his departure, the young guys who were losing their target dancing partners to him, are now happier as they would no more have any competition from the veteran  Papa Ghansah . Life goes on for everyone. Long Live Star, Long Live Papa Ghansah.
