While using our website, and our social media handles to buy insurance policy on online portals and or making enquires, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you. This information may include but not limited to: Email address, Full name, Phone number, Postal Address, GPS, Ghana Card, Photograph identification etc.

All personal information that you may provide to us must be true, complete, and accurate, and you must notify us of any changes to such personal information.


In the course of normal business activities, we use and share your personal information with persons or organizations within and outside of Star Assurance Co. Ltd. This would be done as required or permitted by law. For example, we may do this to:

  • Process and execute transaction you requested or service your Insurance policy
  • Handle your claim processing

In certain situations, we may be required to disclose personal data in response to lawful request by public authorities, meeting national security or law enforcement requirements.

We may disclose your personal information as required by law, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others.


We may sometimes communicate with you via your mobile device through Short Messages etc. If you no longer wish to receive these types of communications, you may turn them off at the device level. To ensure you receive proper notifications, we will need to collect certain information about your device such as operating system and user identification information.

The persons or organizations with whom we may share your personal information may include:

  • Your insurance agent, broker, repair garages or affiliated companies
  • Companies that provide services in respect of your transaction, e.g risk assessors, Loss adjustor, investigators and lawyers etc.
  • Other insurance companies such as Coinsurers, Reinsurers etc.  

We will share your personal information with third parties only in the ways that are described in this privacy statement.

Please note we may not be able to provide information relating to investigations, claims and litigation. We will be happy to make corrections whenever possible, we shall respond to all such requests within 21 working days after receipt.


We will retain your Personal Data only as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your Personal Data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations as under the Data Protection Act, resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and internal policies. All your information will be kept in line with our Data Retention Policy.

When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize it, or, if this is not possible we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.
